Gen 2

The original H1 leaned heavily into traditional wool construction, utilizing a higher wool-content blend and a conventional flannel weave. It delivered the warmth, feel, and natural performance that made wool a staple in the outdoors for generations—but for Gen 2, we wanted to push the H1 further.

We rebuilt the exterior around a 60% nylon / 40% wool blend and moved to a heavy-duty canvas-weave construction. The wool maintains the warmth, moisture management, and natural performance we wanted from the original H1, while the increased nylon content significantly improves abrasion resistance, durability, shape retention, and drying performance. The tighter, more substantial canvas weave takes that durability another step further, creating a garment designed to handle years of hard use in the timber.

Finished in our Earth colorway, broken greens, browns, and natural tones create a pattern designed to disappear into the timber from the green foliage of opening day through the bare woods of late season.

But the exterior is only part of the Gen 2 story.

We've completely redesigned the internal wind barrier, extending it beyond the core and throughout the entire garment—including the sleeves. A quieter membrane backed by soft polyester creates a more comfortable interior while providing significantly greater protection from cutting wind.

Plush corduroy now lines the inside of the collar and cuffs, keeping the rugged wool-blend exterior away from the skin. The collar itself has been extended and given additional structure for greater coverage and draft protection around the neck. Microfleece-lined hand pockets add warmth where you feel it most.

We've also increased the weight and durability of the canvas trim, upgraded to a more rugged leather-branded patch, and retained the details that define the H1: branded brass snaps, classic button-up styling, and our integrated Uomo Pack Roll system for compact transport.

The result is still unmistakably the H1. It just does more.

A rugged outer layer. A warm mid-layer. A piece built to hunt in, work in, travel in, and wear hard for years.

We didn't simply change the blend—we rethought what we wanted the exterior of the H1 to accomplish.

The result is a 60% nylon / 40% wool blend woven into a heavy-duty canvas construction.

FROM POLYESTER TO NYLON

One of the biggest changes for Gen 2 was moving away from the polyester used in the original H1 and rebuilding the blend around nylon.

While both are proven synthetic performance fibers, nylon was chosen specifically for its exceptional toughness and abrasion resistance. It's better suited for a garment that's constantly encountering brush, bark, pack straps, treestand equipment, and the repeated wear that comes with hard use in the field.

At the same time, we increased the overall synthetic content of the fabric. That combination gives the Gen 2 H1 a tougher exterior, greater dimensional stability, and improved drying performance while helping the garment maintain its structure through season after season of use.

40% WOOL. WHERE IT COUNTS.

We kept substantial wool content for a reason. Wool provides natural insulation, moisture management, odor resistance, and reliable performance across changing temperatures—the characteristics that have made it one of the most trusted outdoor fibers for generations.

By combining it with nylon rather than relying on wool alone, we get the advantages of wool inside a considerably tougher platform.

HEAVY-DUTY CANVAS WEAVE

The fiber blend is only half the equation.

Unlike the more traditional weave of the original H1, Gen 2 utilizes a dense canvas-weave construction. This creates a tougher, more structured exterior with better weather resistance and is built to resist abrasion and withstand the constant abuse of life in the timber.

PURPOSE-BUILT SOURCING

We don't choose a manufacturing location simply based on where a garment can be made. We source manufacturing partners based on their ability to work with the fibers, yarns, custom fabrics, trims, and construction methods required for each product.

The H1 is manufactured in India with a production partner selected for its experience working with wool-blend fabrics and its ability to produce the custom materials and construction required for the garment.

The H1 Gen 2 now runs true to size.

Previous generations of the H1 were intentionally oversized and, for many customers, we recommended sizing down. For Gen 2, we've completely refined the sizing and grading to create a more accurate, consistent fit.

Order your normal size.

The H1 is still an outerwear-oriented hunting flannel and is intentionally cut with enough room through the body, shoulders, and arms to accommodate layering and unrestricted movement. Expect a slightly relaxed, athletic outerwear fit rather than the close fit of a traditional casual flannel.

If you owned a previous-generation H1 and sized down, do not automatically use that same sizing strategy for Gen 2. We recommend starting with your normal size and referencing the current Gen 2 size chart before ordering.

BUILT TO BE WORN. EASY TO CARE FOR.

The H1 Gen 2 was designed to be used hard, and its 60% nylon / 40% wool construction makes caring for it considerably easier than a traditional high-wool garment.

But that doesn't mean it needs to be washed every time you wear it.

One of wool's natural advantages is its ability to manage moisture and resist the buildup of odor. After a day in the field, we recommend simply hanging the H1 in a well-ventilated area and allowing it to air out naturally. Give it some fresh air, let it dry completely, brush off the dirt, and save the wash cycle for when the garment actually needs it.

When a deeper cleaning is necessary, the high nylon content adds durability and dimensional stability, making the H1 much more forgiving than a traditional wool-heavy flannel.

RECOMMENDED CARE

• Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle.
• Use a mild detergent.
• Wash with like colors.
• Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, and harsh detergents.
• Close all snaps before washing to protect the garment and hardware.
• Air drying is recommended whenever possible.
• If machine drying is necessary, tumble dry low and remove promptly. Avoid high heat.
• Do not iron directly over the leather patch or other branded details.
• Make sure the garment is completely dry before storing.

LESS WASHING. MORE WEARING.

Between the natural properties of wool and the durability of nylon, the H1 doesn't require constant washing to stay ready for the next hunt. Air it out, let it dry, knock the dirt off, and put it back to work.

Wash it when it needs it—not simply because you wore it.

Uomo flannels are produced in limited batches and brought in only once each year. When a product is marked Pre-Order, the units are already in production, and opening orders early gives you the opportunity to secure your size before the incoming inventory becomes available to the general public.

The availability date listed above represents our current expected arrival date. While we work closely with our production and shipping partners to stay on schedule, manufacturing, freight, customs, weather, and other unforeseen circumstances can occasionally affect that timeline. If we become aware of a meaningful delay, we'll do our best to keep you updated.
